Senior Chaplain Colonel Dr. Thomas F. Schweigert Corporate Advisor International Fellowship of Chaplains, Inc. |
Chaplain Schweigert was born and raised in Detroit and currently resides in Southeastern Michigan. He has a dual background in education and science having taught for a few years and then employed for nearly thirty years as a research chemist in the paint and coatings industry. Chaplain Schweigert has a B.S. (Chemistry and Biology) and an M.S. (Chemistry Education) from Eastern Michigan University and was a four-time All-American in swimming there. He has also completed the D.P.M. (Doctor of Practical Ministry) degree in Chaplaincy from Master's Divinity School, a DMin. (Doctor of Ministry) degree in Christian Counseling from American Christian College & Seminary, and just recently completed a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Touro University International. In 1994, both Chaplain Schweigert and his wife Frieda lost their spouses to death through illness and experienced the grief process firsthand. In that same year, they also experienced the loss of a family member to suicide. However, true to His word, God saw them through, restored them, and blessed them beyond what they ever thought possible. God brought them together as husband and wife (also in 1994) and both now consider themselves to be “modern-day Jobs” - walking testimonies of the Lord’s goodness and power to restore (Rom. 8:28). Both Chaplain Schweigert and his wife (also an ordained, Sr. Chaplain with the IFOC) now teach a grief recovery class out of their home church in Clarkston, MI. and are actively involved in their church’s Deaconate ministry, healing team, and intercessory prayer. Chaplain Schweigert also has completed a two-year Counselor's training and a 3-year Minister's training program through his home church, and has past involvement as a member and local chapter Chaplain of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA). He additionally is an IFOC Trainer specializing in Grief and Loss along with his wife. |
