Sr. Chaplain Colonel Ken Coppock is an Ordained Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Chaplain. He is a Life Member of the International Fellowship of Chaplains since August of 2002. He has been on the IFOC Board of Directors since 2004 and currently serves as the Special Projects and Business Compliance Officer, as well has being a member of the Executive Advisory Council. Ken is also a Lead Instructor.

Chaplain Coppock has spent 36 years in various Emergency Services arenas. He has served as an Emergency Medical Technician, Royal Oak Auxiliary Police Officer, and a recently retired Volunteer Firefighter of the City of Troy Fire Department after serving for 25 years.

Ken currently serves the City of Ferndale Police Department as their Police Chaplain Coordinator and Auxiliary Police Officer. On November 5, 2011, he was awarded Auxiliary Police Officer of the Year. He also serves as the Oakland County Adopt-A-Cop Coordinator. He was a former member of the Oakland County Crisis Response Organization, serving them since 2000 and has served on their Board of Directors Since 2003. Ken is a Past President of OCCRO. Coppock got his passion for Police Ministries after being called in to assist the Sterling Heights Police Chaplain Coordinator to minister to the family and fellow officers of slain Police Officer Mark Sawyers while in the hospital prior to his death on June 5, 2004.

Chaplain Coppock is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and holds certifications in Basic and Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management, Pastoral Crisis Intervention, Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support and Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention. He also holds Professional Certifications has an Instructional Designer/Developer, Instructor/Facilitator, Training Manager/Director, and Master Trainer from the Langevin Learning Institute. Ken is also certified in the “Traumas of Law Enforcement” by The Concerns of Police Survivors and the Department of Justice. He is a Certified Instructor for “Operation Life Saver” and “Highway Watch”, as well as being a Certified CERT Trainer.

Ken has overcome many tragedies within his own life including the tragic suicide death of his father in 1995, as well as a serious fire ground injury in 1998. He owns ServiCar of Michigan, Inc., a private school bus operation that specializes in the transportation of special needs students in Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties. Ken is married to Sr. Chaplain Charlene Coppock for 33 years, and has two children Gerald, who serves with the Hartland Area Fire Authority and Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, and, Michelle, who is Bus attendant working with special needs children. He has five wonderful grandchildren. He believes that God places us in situations for specific reasons, and we need to use those situations to His benefit and glory to help others when ever and wherever we can.
