Texas Chaplain Training

Ambassador Tour – Belton, TX

The fourth stop on the IFOC Ambassador Tour 2016 was to Belton, Texas. The IFOC Heart of Texas Chaplain Corps’ primary focus is providing CISM services to the communities they serve. In conjunction with the Frontline Chaplain Corps located in Frisco, TX, they provide the coordination for their IFOC State CISM team which currently provides this service to 11 Texas counties.

This is a very active team and has provided their Corps with many educational opportunities very quickly. They have also taken the time to introduce themselves to the first responders in areas close to them. For those who are not familiar with Temple, Texas, it is fairly close to Ft. Hood. Unfortunately, everyone who watches the news can identify with this military base that has felt the brunt of terrorist attacks and most recently, soldiers killed in a flood.

This Corps serves in many areas in their community. Listed below are some of those ways and locations.

They provide primary Chaplain services to the Harker Heights Fire Department, the Florence Fire Department and Scott and White EMS, plus other County Fire Departments on an on-call or back-up basis.

A contract was recently signed with the Baylor Scott and White Hospital system, to provide Chaplain Coordinators for their Faith Community Health program, which will be starting soon.

They are also part of the Belton Police Departments pastoral partnership program. Chaplains serve along with the Seton hospital system and the Burnett ISD, local domestic violence shelter and homeless shelter.

They participate at the annual Veterans Day wreath-laying memorial. They participate in the annual Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention and Memorial event.

They are presently in the process of partnering with additional first responder agencies, nursing facilities and community organizations.

I would like to encourage all IFOC Members in the Temple, TX area, check Heart of Texas Chaplain Corps out at http://www.heartoftexaschaplains.org. Their contact information is heartoftexaschaplains@yahoo.com. There is a place for you.

IFOC Heart of Texas Chaplain Corps, you humble us with the unselfish love you bring to many communities. “For such a time as this”!
